About Us

Community Multi-Services, Inc. (CMS) is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization that has been providing specialized residential services since 1978. CMS operates group homes for both children and adults, as well as supervised apartment facilities. Over the past 40 years, CMS has partnered with Child and Family Services and the Department of Disability Services to offer high-quality, cost-effective homes for individuals with developmental disabilities.

At CMS, we focus on integrating a humanistic approach to milieu therapy, emphasizing teaching and training that supports the growth and well-being of every individual. CMS provides safe, nurturing residential homes in the Washington, D.C. area for individuals with a range of developmental disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, psychiatric disorders, neurological impairments, seizure disorders, and socially maladaptive behaviors.

Our therapeutic programs are designed to teach individuals the essential skills they need to live independently and integrate into the broader community and society.

Our Services

Professional

Community Multi-Services, Inc. offers a comprehensive range of professional services designed to meet both the basic and specialized needs of individuals on a daily basis. Our services include medical nursing, psychological and psychiatric care, social work, nutrition, transportation, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, as well as recreational and residential habilitation services.

Community

We provide a variety of opportunities and experiences for individuals to engage with the broader community. These include vacations, dining, recreational activities, grocery and personal shopping, banking, employment, church activities, and participation in Special Olympics.

Respite

Respite services offer relief to an individual's family or primary caregiver, allowing them to take scheduled or unscheduled time away while ensuring continuous care and preventing gaps in the individual’s services.

Host Home

Have you ever considered opening your home to someone with an intellectual disability?
Our Host Home Program connects individuals with intellectual disabilities to homeowners or renters who are willing to share their home. This arrangement helps the individuals:

  • Build meaningful relationships
  • Develop essential daily living skills
  • Become more integrated into their community

Supportive Living

Our highly trained Direct Support Professionals (DSP) offer personalized services to individuals in their homes or apartments. We provide customized training to help enhance, acquire, or maintain skills in areas such as activities of daily living, socialization, adaptive living skills, and community integration.

Transportation
